Horizons Grant

Anita and Bill worked together on the Horizons Grant for Washington State University during 2007 and 2008. Anita fulfilled her role as a full-time community coach by facilitating monthly meetings and advising community committees, while Bill served as a volunteer photographer and photography trainer. Horizons, an eight-state initiative of the Northwest Area Foundation, is about the changes a community can make to move from poverty to hope, from population and economic decline to prosperity.

Anita's A2Z

Since April, 2009, Anita and Bill have produced an award-winning series of basic cooking TV shows called Anita's A2Z Fruits & Vegetables. So far, the 60 plus eight-minute segments have been broadcast in Central Utah by CentraCom Interactive's Cable TV Service (on Channel 10), and on the internet through Utah State University's Extension web site, and Anita's A2Z YouTube Channel. With Anita writing and starring in the program, and Bill handling the videography and editing, the show is designed to help both new and experienced cooks in buying and preparing healthy food choices.

A+ for Austin

Just before Thanksgiving, we traveled to Austin, Texas, to visit our daughter, Anna, and her partner, Justin for an early turkey day celebration. And, what a fine time we had. It rained the first two days, but then the sun emerged for the rest of our visit.

We had four fun-filled days of food, football, movies, lots of laughing, an art tour, a museum, Buttercup (a wonderful Golder Lab with lots of personality), photography, shopping, long walks,and more food. Austin's residents were very friendly with almost all we met having big smiles on their faces.

Even our air travel to and from Austin was interesting but not very stressful.

No problems - just how we like it.

The Sisters Three

Life has been good to us in that we are privileged to be the parents of three intelligent, wonderful daughters.

Our first, Anna, remains a deep thinker, a visual artist, and a seeker of knowledge and experience. She currently lives in Austin, Texas, with her partner, Justin. She recently moved there after ten years working as a book keeper in New York City. Anna graduated from Oberlin College in Ohio in 2000.

Our second, Beth is our philosopher, fiercely independent, and an aspiring gourmet cook. A 2003 graduate of Washington State University, she lives in our old hometown of 23 years, Spokane, Washington, with her husband, Chris, and works as an administrative assistant to a lawyer.

Our third, Samantha, cannot stand to be idle, is a born leader, and loves to travel. She graduated last August from Western Washington University with majors in Sociology and Theater, and is currently employed as a stage manager in Seattle's competitive live theater scene.

All three of our daughters, along with Anita and Bill, practiced Tae Kwon Do in Spokane for years and have all benefited from its study in numerous ways.

Through the miracles of telephones and the internet, we are able to keep in touch with them all on a consistent basis, so, even though we live hundreds of miles apart, we feel close.
